A logo is a harmonious union of type and image that represents you and/or your organization.  It let's people know who you are and what you do in a glance and is the key to a cohesive, professional looking, corporate image.  A well designed logo can do wonders for a business.  It creates a more professional image, regardless of company size, and increases consumer awareness of your products or services.

Please click here to view some of the logos I have designed.

Please take a look at the logos in my Porfolio; this will give you a good idea of my styles.  Keep in mind that a good logo should be kept simple.  When the "logo" starts to contain too much information (text or image) it becomes more of an illustration than a logo.  This causes it to be aesthetically busy and makes it harder to use on applications such as business cards and signs.

  • The exact wording (please try to keep it simple)
  • What "elements" you wish me to include.
  • If you want something specific portrayed in your logo such as an object or shape, please let me know. If you want a specific object or critter you will need to provide a photo(s).
  • If you have particular colors you'd like, please tell me what they are.  I generally design the logos in color. If you just want black and white, please let me know, this may well effect the design process.
  • It is very important to let me know what you intend to use your logo for, this too, may well effect the design.
  • Please browse through my Portfolio and tell me three logos you really like and which ones you like the least.  I will not copy a logo I have already designed, but this information gives me an idea of which of my styles you would prefer and points me in the right direction toward designing your logo.

Please see my Prices page for logo (and web site) pricing.

When you decide you'd like me to start work on your logo, I ask for a down payment of 50% (nonrefundable). Once I receive this I will develop a clear and concise verbal concept for your logo that I will pitch to you. If that concept appeals to you, I will begin "putting pen to paper" and develop a visual comprehensive (or "comp") of your logo for you to look at. Your comments, suggestions, and your criticism are always welcome. This is your logo, and I want you to be happy with it. I will make one, all inclusive, revision to your comp at no cost. Additional revisions will be charged at my hourly rater. Most of the logos I have designed were completed with only one revision or none at all.

Please note:
Communication is very important to the design process.
Please take your time in looking over the "comps" I supply you, but also get back to me in a timely manner so I can stay in the "designing groove".

Once you approve the final "comp" I ask for the balance of the cost of your logo. When I receive your payment I will hone your logo to it's finished state. No further changes may be made to the logo at that point.

Once you have paid for your logo, it is owned and copyrighted by you. I reserve the right to use your logo in my portfolio and in advertising for my graphic design services.

Your logo package includes:

  • Two "hard" (paper), camera ready, copies of your logo, one in color and one in black & white. (suitable for framing)
  • A CD containing the computer files of your logo in color and black & white:
    • Vector Image File Formats - Images that are described by shapes. The preferred format for printing both on paper and on clothes (good for embroidery too). The image can be scaled up without becoming blurry. However, gradients don't work very well.
      • EPS file - the standard interchange format in the print industry
      • SVG file - the World Wide Web standard vector image
      • PDF file - general purpose platform-independent document format
    • Bitmap/Raster Formats - Images that are described by pixels: squares of color arranged in a grid. Looks great on the screen. No problem with scaling down to the size of a business card, but scaling up will become blurry. Gradients are okay.
      • JPG file - Used on the web to save bandwidth: it loads fast. Used when accuracy is not critical.
      • PNG file - The best of the lossless image formats. Widely supported by web browsers and image viewers/editors
      • TIF file (compressed) - For storing raw bitmap data by some programs such as scanners.
    • and also the files of the fonts used in your logo

Always consult with your local professional printer, sign maker etc. regarding what format is most appropriate for your particular application. If there is another kind of file you need that is not listed here, let me know, and I'll see if I can help you out.

Illustrations-

When do I want an illustration instead of a logo?

The price structure and revision policy for an illustration is the same as for logos.

  • When type is not necessary (though, it can contain type).
  • When you want to make more of a personal statement as opposed to selling a product.
  • When you want more than three elements.
  • When you don't need to use the image on a sign or business card.
